Majestic Botticino Marble Medallion, depicting the Lion of St. Mark with an open book.
Work of Venetian provenance, private collection.
The lion is depicted with the open book and the classical Latin phrase inscribed "Pax tibi Marce, evangelista meus" or "Peace to you, Mark, my evangelist."
