Spectacular yellow royal marble finger bowl - Venice - 35 x 22 cm


Royal yellow marble basin with a lion's face carved on the front. Provenance Venice, private collection. Used during meals, it was placed above the table and inside contained water and lemon, and diners used to wash their fingers while eating, in most cases, fish meals. Opera in true Empire style. The quality is truly exquisite. The marble grain and patina are of high workmanship. The dimensions are medium, proportionate and of appropriate weight. It is a single block of carved marble. Perfect as a furnishing accessory, key ring, holder or whatever. More unique than rare lot, of sporadic availability. It is in excellent overall condition, undamaged.
